Celebrating the last day of National Volunteers Week with a wonderful planting working bee today at the West Paddock of the Banyule Conservation Reserve. This wonderful, hardworking, productive, joyful group planted, guarded & watered 250 indigenous plants.
“The area for this planting links with the earlier revegetation site adjacent to the ‘Alan Noy Ephemeral Wetland’ and will extend the corridor between the ephemeral wetland and Banyule Swamp.
All the species chosen are suitable for soils from moist to well-drained.
The chosen species, with abundant flowers will attract pollinators as well as provide food for arboreal marsupials like gliders and possums and it is hoped these in turn will provide food for Powerful Owls who roost very nearby.” Samuel Keevers Park Ranger Banyule City Council
