General Meeting - Environmental Law
Thursday 02 June 2022, 07:30pm
Location: Old Shire Offices, Heidelberg
Date and Time: Thursday 2nd June, 7.30pm
Speaker: Virginia Trescowthick, Environmental Justice Australia
Topic: Virginia is a lawyer who works with environmental groups and local communities across Victoria, providing advice and representation to safeguard health, protect nature and tackle climate change. Virginia will speak about her work with community groups in relation to the Crib Point Gas import terminal and the Fingerboards mineral sand mine. These cases are interesting because community groups have successfully used the law (notably, the Environment Protection Act and the Planning and Environment Act) to protect the environment.
